This
severe natural disaster began with a very powerful earthquake of a 9.0
magnitude on the northeast coast of Honshu
The
earthquake initiated a series of large tsunami waves that affected many coastal
areas
Continuing
in the very unfortunate domino effect the tsunami instigated a major nuclear
incident at the power station which was along the coast
The
combined total of confirmed deaths and missing people is more than 22,000. The
high number of deaths were caused by the initial disasters as well as post
disaster health conditions.
